I don’t know if they (Poles) thought about it, and I don’t know if the Czechs thought about it either. BUT
ŠKODA = Czech automobile manufacturer and one of the four oldest car producers in the world
SZKODA = pity in Polish (skoda, in Czech)
Not that nice when you see the cars in Poland, and then you think about ŠKODA, is it?!
